A Special Project: The Masekela Allstars Release Version of "Thuma Mina"

The people of South Africa face tremendous challenges in the wake of COVID-19, including severe poverty, a compromised economy, lack of access to healthcare and education, corruption and gender-based violence. Together, with a little help from some friends, Constitution Hill and the Hugh Masekela Heritage Foundation have joined forces to produce a collaborative re-working – A People's Version –  of Hugh Masekela’s anthemic Thuma Mina. We are incredibly privileged to be working on this special project by bringing the single to SA radio. 

Under the banner of We The People, a people’s movement of active citizens working for change, Thuma Mina – The People’s Version, led by the Masekela All Stars - champions the power of personal change and agency, recognising the power each of us has to build a society steeped in human dignity, equality and freedom for all.

THE WORLD OF BIRDS RETURN WITH NEW SINGLE, "SOMEBODY TO YOU" 

Cape Town’s nostalgic pop maestros, The World of Birds are back with a breezy new earworm, “Somebody to You” available now via Platoon. The four-piece have been gaining a solid following around the world over the last 12 months, having toured South Africa extensively and supporting Norwegian synth-pop stalwarts A-ha throughout Europe.

“Somebody to You” is the first single from their forthcoming EP Before The Sun Comes Up, due for release in October this year.

The new single from Kylie is here! ’Say Something’ is the first single to be released from Kylie’s highly anticipated album, ‘DISCO’, out on November 6th. Produced by Jon Green and long-term collaborator Biff Stannard, the new track has received widespread acclaim.  The disco-tinged song features particularly poignant lyrics for 2020’s world: “We’re a million miles apart in a thousand ways…Love is love it never ends, can we all be as one again?”. The single was officially released to South African radio this week.

Cape Town-based Amy Lilley boasts many talents, of which her singing and song-writing abilities are at the forefront with the release of her debut EP. ‘She’ was finally shared with the world on Friday, 28 August after the resounding success of her two singles ‘Formidable’ and ‘No Show’ which have painted Amy as a force to be reckoned with in the music industry.  Success and good timing are attracted to Amy’s comportment like a magnet, as she was signed by acclaimed distribution label Platoon before even releasing any professional material. EXCITING CAPETONIAN RAPPER, KNO, RELEASES POLITICALLY CHARGED NEW SINGLE 

Cape Town's rising hip hop star, KNO, releases his new single "Cape of Good Hope" today. The song debuted on Heart fm's morning show with Aden Thomas.

His new single tells the story of the gang culture, poverty and racism the community of his youth experienced on a daily basis.  Packed full of vivid imagery, emotive lines and a devastating delivery, it also tells the story of all the young children whose lives have been lost to gang violence – either as participants or innocent bystanders. 

Keano knows he could have easily been one of those children. “Hip hop saved me. It got me out of the ghetto; now I want it to save everybody else.”
